“Whenever the wind blew, the pieces of tin would dance in the breeze and cause the clappers to clang the bells,” wrote Joe Watson on his 2011 blog, “The Bottle Farm Near Farmersville, Ohio.”
Bottle Farm?
In August 2023, one commenter wrote, “Sorry, I can’t help you, but when I was sixteen, we used to drive from Dayton Ohio at night and when it was windy we would listen to the secured sound and tell that we went there to the bottles sound and tell that was the haunted farm.”
After the 2017 Eclipse, I thought of selecting the site of The Bottle Farm in Farmersville, Ohio, since it would be on the total eclipse path, to peek at the 2024 Eclipse.
Farmersville??? I grew up in this village from 1948 to 1960 while my dad was a Vo-Ag teacher at the Farmersville High School.

After crossing my fingers and toes for the clear weather for three weeks, I finally arrived in my boyhood town and fooled my Facebook friends by posting the picture below.
I told my Facebook friends the exact location when the eclipse started in Farmerville.
Is it true that Total Eclipse changed the Bottle Farm?
Nay, because the farm was razed in the early 1950’s. But, when the eclipse reached the half stage, the wind blew harder, so I thought of clanging the bottle farm.
Before the eclipse started, I had a Facebook exchange with my childhood friend, Sherry (Erisman) Wallace, who still lives in Farmersville.
Wallace: Welcome back, Howie
Gorrell: Now I am at your major park, but I don't hear any bottles banging. Only one RV there. Nice undislocated place.
Wallace: My heart is there. I am a kindred spirit to Winter Zero Swartsel !!!!! That’s where my ashes will be !!!
Gorrell: It could be NICE.
Watch the Sherry Wallace’s explanation video in “Historic Farmersville, Ohio.”
I can imagine that Winter Zellar (Zero) Swartsel did hear this beautiful clanging from his beloved farm in heaven.

In the next issue, I will write about my experience watching the 2024 Eclipse.
