Yesterday afternoon, I spotted the” Cookies” sign waved by Girl Scouts on the shoulder of East Grafton Road in Fairmont, West Virginia, and pulled up to buy two packages of Mint Cookies. Then, I was stunned to see a long, long line of people at the Dairy Creme Corner across the road.
I Googled it and discovered it was the opening day of the 2024 season.

Several sources mention that it is famous for a foot-long ice cream cone.
The ice cream shop does not have a website but has a Facebook page: Dairy Creme Corner. Yes, of course, it sells pepperoni rolls.

I am sure Mary Lou Retton, a Fairmont native, licked the cone. The same goes for US Senator Joe Manchin, who was born in Fairmont and raised in the small coal town of Farmington (nine miles away from the shop.) [Manchin selected Fairmont over Morgantown for his regional office for the North Central Region.] I do not know if retired football coach Nick Saban visited this ice cream store since he was born in Fairmont and grew up in Monongah (seven miles away from the shop).
